TAMIL ACADEMY

         The incredible journey of St.Peter’s Tamil academy the past 70 years has been is highly commendable and admirable. The essential task of academy is to accompany and enrich the knowledge of the brothers in the vernacular to talk and to preach in the course of Philosophical and theological studies. With this pride filled words I, Bro. Alvin Kumar, Secretary of the Tamil academy, present the report of the Tamil academy.

SPARK FROM THE HEARTS

    St.Peter’s Tamil academy originated in 1952 by our former students. Namely Cardinal. Lourdhu swamy, Frs.R.Savarimuthu, D.M. Savarimuthu, Sebastin, Francis Joseph, Arul Rosario. The aim and motto of our Tamil academy is to do the mission through excellent Tamil ( Nantaramilaley nammarai nattidavey). It has been contributing immense and enormous literary service to the church of India and especially in Tamilnadu. It has been continuing fostering Christian faith and moral through books, articles and digital recordings more than that it trains the young seminarians to preach the Gospel by their ancient language and actions.

TAMIL ACADEMY’S MISSION

        Its activities are meaningful and fertile namely Tamil academy masses, Academies, Yearly once Tamil play, Sermon practices for students of Philosophy and Theology and Tamil classes for Non-Tamilians.

TAMIL ACADEMY’S REPORT FROM 2016 TO 2022

Academic year 2015 – 2016 and 2016 - 2017

           Dr. Stanly kumar was the director of the academy. Bro.kulandaiyesu and Bro.Jayan was the secretaries of the academy. They had eight tamil academy masses with different themes. They conducted ten Tamil academies with various type of competition like singing, acting, maims, debate, elocution, quiz on scripture and scholars addresses which is helped brothers to equip their knowledge in Tamil.   

Academic year 2017 - 2018

          Fr. James Victor was the director of the academy. Bro. Anandaraj was the secretary of the academy. They had five Tamil academy masses with different themes. They conducted four Tamil academies with relevant talk on Tamil molzhilium and Tamil maraiyum, a short video on Present Politics, awareness talk on Bodily sickness which is helped brothers to equip their interest in Tamil.

Academic years from 2018 to 2021

      Dr. Alfred Joseph was the director of the academy. Bro. Johnson, Franko and Jeeva was the secretaries of the academy. They had sixteen Tamil academy masses with different themes. They conducted twelve Tamil academies with various type of competition like singing, acting, debate on makalin valviyal aatharam, elocution, quiz on scripture, street play, drama on Thirusabaiyil vulla sikkalkal and scholars addresses on Inraya Tamilnadu, Pengalin mathipu, Tamil thiruavaiyin thevai,kristhuvukul valvu, which is helped brothers to equip their attentiveness in Tamil.   

Academic year 2021 - 2022

      Fr.Antony Felix was the director of the academy. Bro. Rickson Robert was the secretary of the academy. They had five Tamil academy masses with different themes. They conducted three Tamil academies with talk on Guru Avaiya? Thiru avaiya?, Singing Competition, quiz on Scripture which is helped brothers to equip their knowledge in Tamil and  also to develop their own unique talents.

Report of the Current Year

     This year Tamil academy has begun with inaugural function on 16.06.2022. We invited Fr. Arnold Mahesh SDB as a chief guest for the inaugural program and he enlightened us with vibrant talk on “Athigaramatra Tamilmarai nattidavey”. We had two Tamil academy masses, inaugural mass celebrated by Fr. A. Lawrence and on July Fr. Bruno John Baptist OMI. I end this report by saying Tamil valga, Tamilar Valga and Tamil Thiruavai valarthonkuga.
